David Keller was born in 1777 in Greene Co., Tennessee where his father John Keller had settled.  In 1840, David Keller settled on the North Side of Rattlesnake Creek in Shelby Co., Illinois. This information in a book called "History of Shelby & Moultrie counties, 1881."  It says in this book that David Keller was the first settler in Shelby County.  He located on the north side of Rattlesnake Creek on section thirteen, town nine, range 5 in April 1840.
