Johann Jacob Linebaugh
Susanna Margaretha Nein
Jacob Linebaugh was born Shippack, Berks Co., PA on April 2, 1740. Jacob's father Johann Fredrick Leinbach had immigrated from Germany in 1732. He was raised in the Moravian religion by his parents and married Susanna Margaretha Nein in 1766 in Berks Co., PA. Susannah's family had immigrated to Oley, Berks Co. also from Germany. Most of what I have found on Jacob Linebaugh is from other 'cousins' researching this name. A copy of the will -- transcribed below is one of my best possessions to prove my ancestry.
The Will of Jacob Linebaugh names firstly the property that has been given to his son Daniel Lineback and says it is his own, and gives all the rest of his property to Daniel to dispose of as he sees best for the rest of the children: son John, son Jacob and daughters Catherine Coffman and Elisabeth Heafly and Mary Keller and Rosana Keller. Grandchildren: Jacob Keller, son of daughter Mary Keller, son of Jacob Lineback and grandson Jacob Lineback, son of son of Jacob, as executors. 15th April 1826 Witnessed: Daniel Olinger and Barbary (her mark) Lineback signed. Jacob Leinbach, "The Last Will and Testament of Jac. Linebough, senr. executed ? April 1826 for probate and contested by Ben Keller and wife, and Daniel Keller and wife.
I know that Jacob must have come to Greene Co., Tennessee seeking land to farm along with some of his children. He died in 1826 in Greene Co., Tennessee.
